NuSmile has developed some of the highest quality materials for pediatric crowns. NuSmile pediatric crowns come in three styles which include zirconia, pre-veneered and pre-contoured stainless steel.
Your child’s pediatric dentist at Children’s Dental Care may recommend a NuSmile crown if they have a fragile or fractured tooth. Dental crowns (sometimes called “tooth caps” by our patients) cover the entire visible portion of your child’s tooth above the gum line.
Dental Crown Procedure
The dental crown procedure is the same whether you decide on zirconia or a different material. During your child’s first appointment, the dentist will remove enough enamel that the crown won’t look bulky sitting on top of their tooth. Next, they will take impressions of your child’s teeth and send them to the lab where the crown will be made.
Your child’s new tooth crown should last them for years to come!
In the meantime, our dentist will place a temporary crown while your child waits for their permanent tooth restoration. When you bring your child for their next appointment, their permanent crown will be ready. Given proper care, your child’s new tooth crown should last them for years to come.
Our pediatric dentists at Children’s Dental Care are dedicated to helping your child maintain a beautiful healthy smile. To schedule a dentist appointment for your child, call any of our offices in Canton, Dearborn, and Livonia.
